I need to convert an Alpha 5 ver3 database to MS Access 2002. Which options
would I choose within Access Import options to do so. I am also being
prompted for a driver - where may I find it? In advance thanks to all who
viewed this and offer help.

Well, you can't convert the code, or forms or interface.

The ONLY thing you can import is the data.

I would consider asking the person who sent you the data to export the data
to Excel, or even a csv (comma delimited) file.

You can then import that.

As for the driver issue, you could also see if the alpha site provides a
odbc driver that you can download for free. That driver really does not give
you anything more then what having the data exported into excel or a csv
file. it is up to the vendor to provide these driver files.

So, looking at your choices, I would have the person convert the format to
something more popular like excel, or a csv file that ms-access can import.

Mr. Kallal: Thank you very much. I thought about first putting it all into
EXCEL and then into ACCESS. With your directions and encouragement I will do
so. I learned from your discussion of your thoughts and feelings on the
drivers - thanks. I can recreate the forms and reports in Access without
much work.
BTW I am the keeper of the Alpha 5 database and thought it was about time to
come on over to Access. The Alpha 5 database has data back to 1992! Thanks
again. Have a pleasant day. Respectfully, Frank
