Alt key no longer brings up hot keys in Office 2007

When I touch the Alt key in any Office 2007 application, the Start menu
appears. Where can I set the Alt key to once again bring up the hot keys in
Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2007?

Also, some keyboard shortcuts using the Alt key no longer work. Again, the
Start menu appears.

I'd say your keyboard is buggered. The "Window key" should bring up the
Start menu, NOT the Alt key, which means the Alt key press isn't the
"Alt key" anymore and that's why Office isn't responding the way it
would if the keyboard was working properly.
