altering future occurence advised invitees of next cancellation

I booked a series of meetings in my boss' Outlook 2003 calendar. They
recur every fortnight over a year long period. The next occurrences are
over several days of this week.

My boss is going to be away the week of 5 September so I have moved
that week's meetings around. When Calendar asked if I wanted to alert
the attendees I selected "yes". However, some of them received not the
advice of new meeting change, but instead a message cancelling this
week's meeting. I didn't cancel this week's meetings and in fact they
are still sitting there in my boss' diary as scheduled. On those
colleagues' diaries there is a note saying the meeting they had booked
with my boss had been cancelled.

What could be causing this false cancellation? How can I stop it
happening in future and ensure people make it to the relevant meetings?

Thanks in advance for advice,
Jo
