alternating row highlighting - how?

O

Ogg

I'm new to the Access 2007 product. I was exploring the menu commands once
and I was able to get a table display that alternated the highlighting in
the rows; one line light background, one line dark background, and so on.
But I can't seem to duplicate that result anymore! I did not design any
condtions. One of the menu commands generated that nice result
automatically. Can anyone help me find how to get the alternating
highlights?

Hi Ogg,

For a table:
1. Open the table in Datasheet view
2. In the Font group on the Home tab there is a button called Alternate
Fill/Back Color
3. That's the one you want

For a form or report (part 1):
1. Open the form or report in Design view
2. Click the Detail section
3. In the Font group on the Design tab there is a button called Alternate
Fill/Back Color

For a form or report (part 2):
1. Open the form or report in Layout view
2. Click the Detail section
3. In the Font group on the Format tab there is a button called Alternate
Fill/Back Color

THANKS for that. I finally figured it out with your instructions. My
interface doesn't seem to have a specific Font "button" at all. Instead
there is a little "arrow" at the end of the line where the title "Font" is.
When I hover over that arrow it reveals the label ""Datasheet Formatting".
Opening that up reveals cell effects "flat, raised, sunken" with a default
alternate-rows setting. Now the trick is to make the setting stick. I
have to reselect it all the next time I reload the database. :(

Hi Ogg,

In the Font group on the Ribbon you should see all of the following buttons:
1. Font Color
2. Fill/Back Color
3. Alternate Fill/Back Color

If you click the arrow on these, you'll see a drop-down color palette to
choose from.
