Users,
I may have many years experience with Project, but I find there are
still things to learn. Just yesterday I learned something new, (not bad
for an old dog), and I thought it worthy enough to share with other
users.
When creating a filter there is an option at the bottom of the filter
definition window to include or not include related Summary Lines. I
always interpreted this to mean that unchecking the box would prevent
Summary Lines from showing when the filter was applied - wrong! The key
word is "related". If Summary Lines meet the basic filter criteria, they
will be displayed. What the option really means is that if the Summary
Line itself does not meet the basic filter criteria, it will or will not
be displayed depending on whether the box is checked or not. The only
way to ensure that Summary Lines are NOT displayed when the filter is
applied is to include a test for the state of the Summary field in the
filter criteria.
Perhaps this was obvious to everyone but myself . . . but I think not.
