An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files

I am using Frontpage 2000 (SP3) to edit a disk based web.
After not having any problems with this web for more than
a year, I recently started getting an error message
whenever I try to import files into the web. The error msg
says "An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web
files... " When I look in the Windows 2000 Event Log I see
an Event ID 1000 - "Received empty response from Microsoft
Frontpage Server Extensions" The Event Log entry is
confusing since this is a disk based web?? I do not have
FP sever extensions on this workstation since I do not
have a web hosting application running.

I get the same error message if I create a new web and try
to import files to the new web so the problem does not
seem to related to any single web. I have tried
uninstalling and reinstalling Frontpage but it did not
help. The only changes that I have made recently are the
installation of Win 2K Service Pack 4 and several Windows
2K security updates. - - Any Help is Appreciated - -

Yes I have seen the same error on disc based webs
This recent error has started cropping up for several users under varying circumstances, but a cause has not been determined yet
- may be related to some of the recent security updates
Usually it has no impact (the files get imported) and a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks shows the files

Would be nice if Microsoft would put some information on
their website support page just to flag this as an issue.
