An error that seems to be causing the machine to run slow

RSeigler

I am getting the following error message

8/4/08 12:35:38 PM [0x0-0x27027].com.microsoft.Excel[1380] Mon Aug 4
12:35:38 wca-adm-10.wcalions.local Microsoft Excel[1380] <Error>: The
function `CGPDFDocumentGetMediaBox' is obsolete and will be removed in an
upcoming update. Unfortunately, this application, or a library it uses, is
using this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall
degradation of system performance. Please use `CGPDFPageGetBoxRect' instead.

This is Office 2008 12.1.1
This is OS X 10.5.4
The user is on a network account connecting to Active Directory running on
Windows Server 2003 SBS

I'd be glad to provide more information upon request. I could really use
some help because I'm having several people with this problem.

We've investigated this error message before and found that, although it's
technically accurate that Excel is using an obsolete function, it should not
be causing any degradation in system performance. Are your users actually
seeing perf degradation in Excel or the OS? If so, please do provide me with
whatever information you can detailing that degradation. If not, you can
safely ignore the alert.

Thanks,

Pat

Thanks for the promt reply Pat. We've done some more research, and it seems
that either Bonjour and/or our .local domain is the culprit. In either case,
it just seems that MS Office barked about the problem louder than any program.

Thanks again,

Richard
