Hi,
I have Installed Microsoft Project server 2007 standalone.
I tried configuring data analysis, and could not find Analysis Service in my
database.
How can I install and configure Analysis service with SQL Server 2005
Express edition which is created by default while installing MPP Server 2007.

Any help!

Thanks in advince.

Hi,
SQL Express does not support Analysis Services. You'll need either SQL
standard or SQL Enterprise edition.

Ben,
Thanks for the reply.
Then I need to upgrade my database to Std or Enterprise edition.
How to upgrade my SQLServer Express to Standard or Enterprise?
Help me please!

Thanks,
Muthu

Hi Muthu,

I'm afraid it will be difficult to migrate that way: The TechNet document
says:
Important: If you are planning to change to a larger Project Server
deployment later, be aware that the SQL Server Express 2005 database cannot
be migrated to SQL Server 2000.

Thanks Ben and Gérard Ducouret.

Got help for SQL Server Upgrade from following link.
http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=67639

I don't have any data on my old database. I tried installing SQL Server
2005 Standard Edition. By default, Express edtion has been upgraded to Std
Edition.

Now I'm looking for Cube building on PRoject Server 2007 Standalone..

Thanks
Muthu

Did you also deploy analysis services and made it the same service pack level
as the database engine??

Also look in to the official Project Server deployment planning and
installation documentation.. it has a section on setting up OLAP cubes and
considerations related to Project Server. for a brief summary of Analysis
service set-up you could brief through http://projectserverblogs.com/?p=1134.

Tip: Plan FIRST what data you will collect and decide on how the users will
be using that data - via Excel, PWA views, both..

Also take in to consideration the link capacity if the user is viewing data
through the VPN/Public web and so on. Keep in mind what would be the number
of project you will have in lets say 4yrs (once the system is rolled out).
Processing time on Analysis server can be quite heavy.. I.e. we collect data
for about 500 projects and it takes about 15 minutes (overnight) out of Ent.
SQL Server with 16gb ram and 8CPUs...
