Analyze Timescaled Data for resources in master schedule

Verossa

Hi Al

A master schedule includes 3 projects (insert > project). I've noted in Resource Sheet MS Project pulls through all the resources - the resource allocation can be viewed in Resource Usage. I applying a resource filter: cost greater than 0 to summarise the view

However, when I use the analyse wizard I get the following message "There are no resources in the current project. Try again after the project has one or more resources.

How can I analyse the resources in the master schedule or must I to do this in each individual project file

TIA to all who respond to my latest dilemma

Hi,

The resources belong to the individual projects, so there are no resources
in the master project. 2 Solutions:

1) Create a resource pool
2) when you create the master file, deselect the link option so all tasks
and resources are copied to the master file. You then get all resource info
as well. You can throw this file away after reporting. Record a macro to
create it quickly.

Verossa,
Sorry for the Chelsea v Monaco match ;-(

About your resource issue, have you checked that the master project really
shares ( and see) the resources pool ?
Try to use the Using Resource... filter in the Gantt view of the master
project. If the drop down list is empty, you know what you have to do.

Hi Rod

Thanks for responding - that did the trick. Next question

Because I have a master schedule (containing individual projects) I want to show how much resource is consumed per project when I export to the timescale data MS Excel. Is there a variable I can incorporate into the filter than maintains the resources per project

Thanks again Rod

Hey Gerard

Chelsea v Monaco - Oh well, Monaco deserved to win based on that performance

I think I know need to develop a resource pool. The unfortunate thing about having to do this is managing other project managers who are unwilling to provide the visibility to successfully deliver this task

Rod provided one answer - but I think the resource pool is the best method. Do you have any ideas on my second post regarding resources / multiple projects and exporting to MS Excel

Thanks for the assistance - Vers
