animated characters that present your powerpoint presentation

Glenn S

a while ago I saw a presentation that had animated characters that moved around the screen (and moved arms etc) pointing to different items on a powerpoint screen and spoke about each point before moving to the next slide. There was a parrot, a robot and a wizard.

Where do I get these and how do you use them? tried searching all the key words I could think of - any suggestions

There's an MS Agent webring which may be helpful to you as you investigate the use of agents in your presentation. http://www.msagentring.org/ I'm pretty sure the Merlin, Peedy and Robby characters are free. (I know I did a demo using Merlin some time ago, and I didn't have to pay for him or anything like that.)

VoxProxy (as TAJ suggested) has Merlin, Peedy and Robby, too. They can be seen at https://www.voxproxy.com/cgi-bin/vox.pl I believe VoxProxy makes the use of agents a bit easier, as it works as a PPT add-in which has scripting and testing controls right there for you to use -- you don't have to type in the code by hand.

Hi,

Echo has nailed it. Vox proxy uses a scripting wizard, and has quite a
number of characters available. Also, there is a view you can package with
it, although it is still the 97 version.

There are a number of ways of doing this. The first is to subscribe to MASH
(Microsoft Agent Scripting Helper) available from Bellcraft.com. This
programme allows you to create a script from MASH and then use it to call
your Powerpoint presentation.

The next way is to obtain from the WWW a program called "prenar" which is
short for Presentation Narrator. This is a scripting programme that calls
MSAgents to a Powerpoint screen. It assumes that you have downloaded from
Microsoft.com its character ACS files and the related programmes that go with
it.

The next - and in my opinion the best - is to use Visual Basic 5 or 6 and
created a programmes that calls MSagents to your programmes.

If I am going to suggest anything. If your experience lies with Powerpoint
then the Presenttaion Narrator is good. Study the programme carefully and
make a back up programme of the first prenar programme.

If you have any problems with this programme place a note on this thread and
I will see what I can do for you.

Bernie,
Are AT&T Voices the only quality text-to-speech voices? I have recently
discovered Vox Proxy and am trying to find equivalent to AT&T voices. Or even
better, voices (quality) which could be attached to the Microsoft characters,
Peedy etc.
