In Office 2003 there is a check box to activate animated cursors in the
Options menu on teh General Tab. I have checked this and see no change in the
behavior of my cursor. Has anyone see this behavior?

Hi Bob,

It's the 'provide feedback with animation' choice in the Office apps. It's basic purpose was to help provide visual 'alerts' or
cues to folks with sound or vision impairments for some actions in the Office apps. The tools=>customize=>options choice for
animated menus is related.

In Word, for example having Animation Feedback turned on in Tools=>Options=>General the Word ruler on the top and left edge of tf
the screen will slide into view if you hover over where it normally displays even when View=>Rulers is off. In Excel if you have it
on under Tools=>Option=>Edit and use Insert=>Columns the columns to the right 'slide over' as part of the insert.

The cursors changes aren't always as noticable on the faster computers of today, but as I understand it the change is reported via
screen readers. Using Ctrl+S, for example, to save a large file should show a file folder on the cursor with the Feedback with
Animation feature turned on, or to a printer icon when printing.
The change like the sliding columns in Excel will occur without
the installed animated cursors.

Originally, when added to Office 97 the Sounds and Animated Cursors were provided on the CD in the \Valupack\ folder. They're still
available as downloads:
