Animation: How to make each new page start with the first paragraph

H

Hi,

I will like to start each new slide with the first paragraph on screen,
and then press the mouse for the second one , etc. Right now, all the
paragraphs in the animation are hiden once I get into the page, and I
have not been able to change this. Thanks for any suggestions. I have
PP 2000.

By the way, I can see that splitting the paragraphs into 2 objects
would make the trick. However, I have a lot of these cases, and would
take me for ever to apply this mechanical solution. I suspect that
there must be a more efficient way (a command?).

Thanks for your help,
Herman

See if the tips from this page of Steve Rindsberg's PPT FAQ help:
Make animated text appear line by line
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00581.htm

This page will give you the general information on how to make the text come
in one chunk at a time. To make the first paragraph come in automatically,
follow the directions and then set the first paragraph to come in without a
click (after 0 seconds) and the rest of the paragraphs to come in on click.

Kathy,

Can you do that in 2000? I know that is easy in 2002 and 2003, but I didn't
see a way to do it in 2000.

Been too long since I played with 2000's interface. You are right sir - You
can't have two different starts on paragraphs in the same placeholder in
2000.

Original poster: Sorry to give bad advice. You will need to either split
the first paragraph into a separate box or upgrade to a newer version.

Hmm, since everything will have to animate inside the textbox, they will all
be hidden at the first scene.
But I can recommend a simpler way to 'split' the text. That is, to copy and
paste the whole textbox, then go into the duplicate textbox and delete all
the paragraphs except for the first one.
Use the duplicate to overlap the first textbox. Then remove the duplicate's
animation.
As for the original textbox, follow Steve Rindsberg's PPT FAQ help.
