[ANN] Answers to problems installing and general confusion

Some confusion still remaining:

1. If you have run the downloaded .dmg 12.0.1 updater and Excel and Word now
show that version number but Entourage still shows 12.0.0, does that mean that
Entourage was NOT "fixed" by the updater for stability and security purposes?

Mine showed 12.0.0, but I was hearing sounds so I assumed I was updated.
Working with the developer and from the logs I sent in, he had me do the
"Remove Office" and re-install. Now I am at 12.0.1. I suggest doing this
also as per the steps shown.
2. Would it help for those of us who have the Entourage 12.0.0 version number
after running the updater to supply specifics in this thread about our Mac OS
version (10.5.2 in my case), model of Mac (mine is a G5 PowerPC), or site of
installation (mine is on the boot volume)?

Yes. We are trying to get the full info available.
3. If we follow the SEVEN-step procedure counsel in the blog to ³¹Remove
Office¹ and Re-install², at what point in that process, if any, should we
re-install the the 2.1.1 ³Microsoft AutoUpdate²?

Good question. I just checked and my updated MAU was still updated.
4. If we follow the blog¹s seven-step procedure, will we have to re-create
all of our preferences for the several Office 2008 applications?

I didn't and did not even have to enter the CD Key.
5. If we follow the blog¹s seven-step procedure, will that also fix the
AutoUpdater failure to show that 12.0.1 and other (yet-to-be released future)
updates have been run?

Not yet. It's not been set for autoupload yet.
6. If all Office 2008 applications with the exception of Entourage show the
correct version number, what is the downside or sitting tight and waiting for
12.0.2 rather than going through all the un-install, re-install, 12.0.1
updating, Disk Utility, and re-start fun?

A re-do wasn't that bad and you might have to do it when the next release
comes out to fix the underlying problems that caused the problem this go
round.
