Hi All,

Mactopia just made the Office 10.1.5 update available on their site
today:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx#OfficeX
This update addresses several stability issues with PowerPoint®, Excel,
and Visual Basic for Applications for Office v. X.

Note If you have not installed Microsoft Office v. X 10.1.2 Update
and Microsoft Exchange Update for Entourage® X (Office v. X 10.1.4
Update) , you must do so before installing Microsoft Office v. X 10.1.5
Update.

Hi Keith,
Is there any place to look at the reported bugs to see what version they are
scheduled to be fixed in? (My company does this.)

Not that I know of :-\

This morning I installed Office 10.1.5 Update, first installing 10.1.4
Update over 10.1.2 on my Dual G4 with OS 10.2.6. Then only Entourage
in the Office suite would open, but not Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.

DiskWarrior reported and repaired a major error in the harddrive
wrapper. After restart, the Word, Excel, Powerpoint problem remained.

Looking at the splash screens on boot, all three apps seemed to crash
at VBA Converter. I drop- stuffed the VBA Converter (putting VBA
Converter.sit in place). I can now boot all four Office applications!

This looks like a problem with the fonts on your drive. You should try
to track down damaged fonts. A font repair utility like Font DOctor
(even in demo mode) should help a lot in this regard.

What exactly happens ?? Does the application hang, does it crash
straight on ??? Do you see the splash screen ?? Do you see the Gallery
?? Can you launch any of these apps by double-clicking one of its files
???

Argh, they still haven't fixed the annoying "lose your place when retrieving
email" bug.

It's a known bug.

Still wouldn't hurt to report so it's priority can be pushed up.

Visit Product Feedback <http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp>
to submit your requests for wishlists If you're in Office X, there's a link
on the Help menu.

To send feedback on how MS can improve products for the Macintosh, visit the
feedback site.

Microsoft's site for bug reports is:

https://webresponse.one.microsoft.com/oas/public/AssistedIntro.aspx

This site allows a complete bug report to be filed, including demonstration
files, to allow support personal fully understand the system configuration
and problem scenario. The tracking allows for support personal to follow-up
and ask questions if they do not understand the problem report, and allows
the person filing the report to track the progress of the problem report.

Corentin,

Thanks for the interest. I can't warranty my fonts, but they are not
likely the problem (unless a font problem could interfere with the VBA
Converter!)

Office 10.1.5 is working here, but only with the new VBA Converter
disabled. And all four apps work with a gigantic number of fonts
(temporarily) on board.

As I said in my last posting, with the original download, I get a
splash screen for all four applications, but Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint stop while their splash screen shows VBA Converter being
installed, Then the splash screen vanishes, and the application
Unexpectedly Quits, leaving everything else unchanged. I stuffed VBA
Converter and the problem went away.

I'mn not sure that would be likely :-\

OK, so this rules out the fonts.

That sounds bad... I'd have to check what happens on my machine to see
if I can reproduce it. You might have better luck with a clean, new
OPffice X install then :-\

This doesn't help solve your problem, but the 10.1.5 update installed okay
for me, and none of my Office modules quit when "Installing VBA Converter"
appears. They launch and behave normally.

Corentin may have the solution, as unpalatable as I'm sure it is: remove
Office, and then reinstall it and run the new installation all the way
through the necessary updates.

My own installation is recent to with two weeks days. I haven't done much
work in it as yet, so nothing has had a chance to get corrupted. My TiBook
is also only a couple of months old, so the OS is relatively uncluttered.
