Just run the update on my Desktop and my Laptop.

The only items I saw updated were Excel, and PowerPoint.
Entorage, and Word has same idential version and series number in about
Word, about Entourage.

Am I missing something??

3.1 Improvements for Office 2004
3.2 Improvements for Excel 2004
3.3 Improvements for PowerPoint 2004

So you are correct. There are no specific changes to Word or Entourage

Is update contains various improvments on Picture Rendering Issues, so if
you have some problems with images not appearing correctly, try downloading
and installing the update first.

Thanks

One part of the update improves the display of inserted PICT images in your
document.

An example of the one of the types of problems it should fix is the
"splitting into objects" problem detailed by user "Richard" here:
http://groups-beta.google.com/group...a8f6b4f3979,c42e4eaa8d60bbb6,7ce0d9d93d16c213

Other problems that it may fix are some situations where the image looks
poorly or does not render at all. So if you are having similar problems be
sure to update Office 2004 to the lastest version (11.1.1).

Has anybody had problems with the Office 2004 11.1.1 Update installer?
I have tried the automatically downloaded one (via Microsoft
AutoUpdate) and the manually downloaded one (from Mactopia downloads),
but they both hang indefinitely at the "Gathering Information..."
stage. I have disabled Norton Autoprotect and quit all applications
other than the Finder, but the problem persists. I do see disk activity
early on, but after a while that stops and the installer seems to hang.
I am running OSX 10.3.8 and Office 11.1.0 on a G5 dual 2 GHz with 1 GB
memory, an internal 153 GB Maxtor disk, and an external 380 GB LaCie
disk via FireWire 800.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Johan

To answer my own question, I just tried unplugging the external disk
before running the installer (auto download), and that did work. Sorry
for the question, but perhaps the answer is of use to someone.

Thanks for getting back, Johan -- it's great to get feedback.

I had the same problem, so you are certainly not Robinson Crusoe!

* A SUGGESTION ‹ WAIT FOR CONSIDERED ADVICE: If you post a question, keep
re-visiting the newsgroup for several days after the first response comes
in. Sometimes it takes a few responses before the best or complete solution
is proposed; sometimes you'll be asked for further information so that a
better answer can be provided. Good tips about getting the best out of
posting are at http://word.mvps.org/FindHelp/Posting.htm (if you use Safari
and it gives you a blank page the first time, you may need to hit the
circular arrow icon -- "Reload the current page" -- a few times).

* AND ONE MORE ‹ AVOID SPAM: To avoid spam directed at contributors of
newsgroups, you can set up a "send-only" dummy e-mail account. Full
instructions are at http://www.entourage.mvps.org/tips/tip019.html

Do you have any other suggestions? I just upgraded to Office 2004.
Unfortunately, I cannot update anything. I get the hanging and
spinning ball and the computer freezes. I have unplugged external
devices, run repair permissions, and reinstalled the whole thing. I
have read numerous posts on similar problems and tried all the
suggestions posted thus far. Please help- this is very annoying!
Thanks so much.
