Another 2 page per sheet question

Greetings,
I'm trying to prevent hours of cutting and printing frustration. I
have Word 2002 and 3 different HP LJ 4 (4+, 4MP, 4M+). Yes I have the
lastest printer drivers, service packs (except for the disasterous
Winders SP3), virus scanners, and so on.

My finished printed page size is 2 by 8.5" * 5.5".

After page cutting to allow room for lamination and binding: 8" * 5"

I don't worry about the 4-1-2-3 problem by simply printing the
document twice resulting in two books when finished.

However, I do find that the margins are not equal, even when set to
mirror. The back side of the page is off anywhere from 1/8" (first
page on sheet) to 1/4" (second page on sheet) compared to the front of
the page.

So far my publisher has dealt with the problem, but I'd like to
prevent this when creating my next document.

I've scoured this newsgroup, Microsoft's site, HP's site, and so on,
but can not find a gutter or other margin setting that will allow the
front and back sides of the page to be equal.

Any ideas?
