antivirus problem

After I installed Norton anti virus I could not get word to work. It opens
and then immediately causes terminationation error. When I reinstalled Word
2002 I can get it to open in the safe mode only. I tried uninstalling Norton
and reinstalling but same problem. I have XP OS

Hi John,

The solution to your issue is the same as the solution to the recent
problem with Norton AV. (The problem you are encountering has been
around a little longer. <g>)

In Norton go to Options and in the Miscellaneous section turn off
"Enable Office Plug-in".

If you are not using a version of Norton that contains this option
then:

Search for officeav.dll and if found go to Start/Run and run the
following command:

regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"

In the above example the path for "Officeav.dll" would depend on the
location of the DLL.
