Antivirus program can't scan Outlook's incoming and outgoing emails!

Previously, I have no problems scanning the emails
(inbound or outbound). Now, I am having problems with it,
as it bypasses the virus scanning.

When I use an email proxy on my system, whenever the
download begins on the proxy, it scans for virus. Any
advice why Outlook bypasses this?

It's usually a waste of time to have antivirus prograsm scan your inbound
and outbound mail, provided you run the AV's on-access scanner.
