Any office program I open initiates a save as dialog box!!

Whenever I open a word document or excel spreadsheet I get the save as dialog
box and cannot close or save anything. In this way I am unable to work in
those docs and have to use the Task manager to close the program. I have my
original disk and repaired the program. What next?

is the document's filename appear in the save as dialog? do you have any
addons installed? PDFMaker, etc?

If I double click on the file I want to work with, yes it appears in the
dialog box. If I open Word then Doc1 appears in the dialog box. I had
recently downloaded Office 07 Trial version but have since deleted it. Also I
uninstalled and reinstalled Office 03 and continue to have the issue... I do
not think that there were any addons but uninstalling and reinstalling just
word and excel would have fixed that anyway, correct?

Add-ins aren't removed if you uninstall and reinstall and it sounds like
that's the problem you are encountering, an add-in that is triggering the
Save As command upon opening the document. See if the issue still occurs in
Safe Mode. Exit Word or Excel, hold Ctrl and start the application. Continue
holding Ctrl until you are prompted to start in Safe Mode. If it doesn't
then let us know and tell us which application you are using so we can
provide some specific troubleshooting steps.
