Any problems with converting files fromhome/student office to full version?

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

For years I used Word 97-2004 which came as part of the Office pkg (Excel, Power Point, etc.). When it came time to upgrade the software again, I spoke with the MacConnection people and they suggested that I didn't really need the full office version but would just as happy with the Home Student Edition. With the exception of the Word program, this is true.

If I buy only Mac Word 2008 - not the full Office version - will the files created in the home/student of office 2008 update to the new full Word software'? How about the old stuff created in Word 97-204? Will I have to continue to run the student version of Word for the other programs (excel, powerpoint, etc) to work?

I do not like the Home/Student Version of Word. I have had several question and answer sessions with the support staff at Microsoft but they are unable to solve the editing problems that exist with the student version that did not exist in the old Word program. They have acknowledged there is a problem but due to the constraints of the simpler version of Word my issue cannot be resolved.

Thanks in advance.

Excel, PowerPoint & Word for Mac in any given version are identical in all
Editions within that version. IOW, Word in the Home & Student 2008 Edition
is no different in any way from Word 2008 in Standard or Business or the
standalone package. The principal differences are in the Licensing for the
different editions, what comes along in the package, & what's included in
the capability of Entourage for Exchange connectivity. Have a look at the
difference in the packages here:

Word 2008 by itself will cost you nearly as much as the Home & Student
Edition:

H&S = &129.95/ 3 licenses

Word only Upgrade = $109.95/ 1 license

And, in addition to what Cybertaz has stated, it might be a whole lot more
beneficial if you could explain WHY you think WORD is different in these
versions. What are you having trouble with that you think another version of
WORD will fix? Yes, the output (documents created by) of any version of WORD
should be fully compatible.
