Any stats on Calculation improvment on different processors?

Is there any performance results available on the speed improvement for
Excel Calculations upgrading to faster processor?

I have a x86 Family 6 Model 9 Stepping 5 GenuineIntel ~1594 Mhz IBM Thinkpad

If going to a faster processor desktop would cut in half calc time I would
do so

Any general rules of thumb on improvement with different processors?...

I scan old newsgroup postings that do not have responses, trying to
determine why no one bothered to react to your initial inquiry, "Any stats on
Calculation improvment on different...", dated 12/21/2004.
Your posting might have been bypassed for one or more of the following
reasons: (a) it is too vague, (b) it requires somewhat more than a simple,
direct response, (c) you are looking for someone to devise a total solution
to your problem, (d) your question will require extensive research, or (e)
