Any suggested/recommended leveling tips for multiple projects?

Hi,
Newbie here again!
The site, and the post here are great! Thank you to everyone!
Our PM's have a concern/ interest regarding leveling.

Questions Group 1.
- We have resource 'X' shared on Project 1 and Project 2.
- Project 1 has priority 700, and Project 2 priority 500.
- We level, with just Project 1 open, Project 2 is not open.
- How does MSPRO 2003 take into account the shared resource 'X' on the
summary task?
- Does MSPRO2003 evaluate the priority of project 2, for resource X, if only
Project1 is open?
- What happens to the resource X when the project 2 has a higher prioroty
versus lower priority?

Questions Group 2.
-Can we level the projects individually, highest to lowest?
-Will this make a difference in our leveling results, or should we open all
the projects then level?
Your thoughts?

Microsoft Project Professional 2003 only levels overallocations in any OPEN
projects. It does not level cross-project overallocations on closed
projects. Hope this helps.

We use a master project not stored on the server ( to elminate PWA
problems) to open the project file and level once a week. The data is
then saved for each PM to view resource loading and completion dates.
We usually use all "Finish No Later Than" dates driven by customer
request dates and this helps use determine resource over allocations
and problems.
