Any sync app showing diffs in comments/text fields?

Hi all -

I am looking for a synchronization app for Outlook 2003 which will
allow me to sync data between my laptop and desktop. I know there are
several that do this in some way, but they just allow selection of one
duplicate over another. I tend to update contact notes in the large
field underneath the IM field on the main screen, and I would love for
an app to alert me on duplicate contacts and say, this text is
different, do you want to update or merge the information?
Is there anything that will do this? TIA for your help!

It would be surprising in the extreme to find a sync app that looks INSIDE
the item for differences.

We do perform checks on the first/last name of the contact (beyond the
date of modification) to be sure that it is the same contact. Only date
is not always sufficient.

As far as we know- no such tool currently. There are certain problems
connected with fulfilling your request:

- as Brian pointed out- looking into EVERY filed of the contact would
slow down the process very much
- so that an automatic synchronization can occur, a large variaty of
settings need to be setup before synchronization can go: which fields
to compare, which fields to merge, which fields to ignore

If you are interested, please email me off the list- will look into the
issue- if it is something of interest to our users- we might implement
this feature with your help!

Thanks, I will look into it, Max. I understand your response, and
Brian's as well, but there is no technical reason why an app couldn't
do it. I have a couple hundred contacts which were originally synced,
but which have been manipulated in some fashion since the original
creation. It would be awesome to be able to do a "diff" on these.
Thanks again.
