Hi David!

There is a web site called Anybrowser.com that allows a
web designer to view his web site from many different
browsers and computer sytems that other people may be
using to view a web site.

Even though I created my Publisher web site in 3.0,
everything that I view from another person's perspective
or computer comes up entirely different to the point where
my web site doesn't even make sense.

Do you have any suggestions to fix this problem? I assumed
creating in 3.0 would make my site viewable in the
majority.

Thank you David,
Steve

the majority is IE 5 and higher so you accomplished that.

other than hiring a web developer to develop a site for each browser and
browser version you just need to try and keep it simple and not worry too
much about it.

keeping it simple is the biggest thing, the more complex a page the harder
to get support across browsers.

you have a complex page with counters, marquees, scripts, buttons, etc...
btw marquee is an IE thing not an NS thing

Hi again David!

Since the majority is IE 5 and higher, do you recommend I
toss some of the counters, marquees, script buttons or
will IE 5 and higher support these.Just trying to make a
sound decision.

Also David, One person recommended re-setting my fonts.
Since he designed his web page in small fonts, and others
had setting in large fonts it came all out of balance. To
correct the issue, he re-set his fonts.

Please request your thoughts on both of these issues.

Thanks again,
Steve

IE supports the pages fine, but professionally speaking I'd dump the
counter, and dump the marquees.

IE defaults to medium and most users never change that nor know they can. I
recommend using 10 pt for large bodies of text, you can use 12 pt for small
bodies of text.

David, When I started designing my site, I noticed that most sites used 10
pt, and I realized that I would be able to get more text on a page by using
that size, etc. However, as one of the baby boomer generation, I also
noticed that I always had to snug up close to the monitor, or increase the
text size in order to read the text comfortably with my older eyes. It also
occurred to me that most of the web designers out there were probably young,
with young eyes and so the smaller font made no difference to them. With all
this in mind, I consciously decided to use 12 pt, to make my site easier to
read. If a site is targeted to an older group, would it make sense to
consider the larger font? Just a thought from a guy with olderererer eyes.
