Anyone able to install Project 2007 on Windows 7?

David Merrick

I had been trying to install Project 2007 on Windows 7 Beta with no luck.
Every time I would run the installer it would stop with the following error
message:
"Setup can't find a version of Microsoft Office on your computer" and asks
me to browse for the installation.

I have Office 2007 SP2 installed, and did browse to it's install location.
But no luck.

So..... I thought, lets wait for the RC of windows 7 and they'll fix it.
Nope. Have the exact same problem on the RC.

I am a MS Partner and this is the version of project that comes in my Action
Pack (If that Helps)

Hi David,

Have you installed Project 2007 in an other OS? I'm not sure it's a
problem with Windows 7 -- it may be a problem with the Project disk.
It sounds as though it's an upgrade version of Project and it is
looking for a previous version of Project (despite the reference to
"Office). See the following thread:

I am not a MS Partner so I can't offer a remedy, other than to say
there were a far number of the exact issues you mention when Project
was first released in the Action Pack. You may wish to pursue this
further through the Partner channels.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie is right. It's not a Windows 7 issue. It's a problem with the disk
included in the Action Pack.

I downloaded Project 2007 from the new digital download site for Action Pack
subscribers and it worked.

Thanks for the update Fred. I'm glad to know they appear to have it
straightened away.
