Anyone having groove (public) relay problems today???

Don

I work with 12 other people. 8 of 12 are virtual office from their home and
the rest are in 1 office on a LAN. Most everyone is seeing different
combinations of everyone else on/off line...it's crazy. Anyone else having
this trouble? Any suggestions?

I'm not seeing this and I am using two different Groove accounts, one on theP
ublic Relay and one on the MSFT internal network.

Can everyone send Groove messages to each other?

You could also ask everyone to run "GrooveClean.exe" which should reset
their communications queue - but if you can all send and receieve Groove
messages - I would avoid that step. I could be just intermittant network
failure on the public Internet.

Seems to be working today...yesterday was very strange...so i guess public
internet. Thanks for the input.

Markry,

Don misspoke. It is not working today! It has not been working for a long
time. It is intermittent to the extreme. It is interfering with real work
that we need to be doing.

We are in the process of having everyone do GrooveClean. So, far about half
the guys have done it. For those that have done it, there is NO IMPROVEMENT.

This is a very serious issue. 'Presence' comes and goes randomly. Groove
messages are delayed to the extreme. Groove Chat is ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS as
a viable method of communication.

I suspect that if this isn't rectified soon, we will be saying goodbye to
Groove.

I hope that Microsoft is serous about this issue. Collaboration without
RELIABLE AND ROBUST COMMUNICATION is not COLLABORATION!

I'm very frustrated at the moment and hope that we see a resolution soon.

One more thing: lest you say that it is an internet problem, keep in mind
that while we are experiencing Groove communication problems we are
communicating via Windows Messenger AT THE SAME TIME. That is, the internet
is not the problem when we can communicate via Messenger but cannot via
Groove. Please get "it might be the internet" out of your mind and begin to
think of reasons why the problem might be within Groove.

Matt is correct about my statements, we are indeed communicating with no
delay using Windows Messenger. So it is indeed strange that presence works
in IM and not in Groove. Is there any way to adjust the registry so that the
presence updates more frequently?

We also tested "presence" by turning off all firewalls and anti-virus/spyware
software on our machines. Even then, presence was spotty until very late in
the evening. Could it be that the relays can handle the daytime traffic?
Can't wait until the weekend to test that theory. Oh, we're all running 3.1,
so maybe 3.1 users are no longer a priority for Microsoft? We really like
the program, but are becoming very disappointed by the performance issues.
Thoughts anyone???? Any ideas at all? Would greatly appreciate any input.
TIA.

Hi Mark -

Typically its only a few servers that fail. This leads to situations where
only some people are shown as online.

This is very noticeable when some of your co-workers are on a duff server,
and others are not.

I guess Microsoft has replied all they are going to reply. Typical of
Microsoft. All hype and promise and no delivery on the goods. Seriously
considering going to Mac.
