App Window de-activates

If I leave an application running and just leave it alone, the window goes
from active to de-active. Is there some setting to change this? I have
Windows XP Home SP2 running MS Office 2003 Basic

Screen saver is set to off, and all power options are set to always on. That
was my first thought, but you can open Word, and then just wait about 10
minutes and it de-activates the window.

The application doesn't "de-activate". Something else is "activating",
what is running or starting on the PC after the time period? There are
many things that can be set to "update" in idle time. Find and squelch
the program thats stealing the focus and your problem is solved.
