Appearance of a selected range

In XP the active cell in a selected range is the only unshaded cell. Is
there a way to view this way in 2007 or is it abnormal that all cells are now
unshaded?

The shading is extremely light in 2007, and sometimes I cannot easily
distinguish the selection on my screen.

I'm curious, Jon, whether you (and others) get less shading than I do or if
you think that shading is inadequate (both per the attached JPG).

Your image file is more heavily shaded than I see on the screen of my old
laptop (the only machine I trust to Excel 2003).

I've been searching for the answer to this only for a short while... The
selected but inactive cells on my screens (both my laptop and either of my
two monitors) is virtually indistinguishable from the unselected and inactive
cells. What setting in "Display" or in the Themes will adjust this?

The shading and overall color scheme in Excel 2007 is extremely light. It is
almost impossible to distinguish the highlighted cell within a selected area.
I've been looking all over the web for a solution to no avail. There is no
way to change the default colors for spreadsheets or the highlighted area.

Each spreadsheet can have the gridlines or color changed but this must be
done for each and every file individually.

I hope this is the first "feature" in SP1 for Office 2007.

I agree with Mitch. I spent about 1/2 day searching for a solution to no
avail. Not even a contrast change on the monitor was able to give me what I
needed

Guys,

Count yourselves lucky - I have a large $800 LCD, perfect eyesight and I
can't distinguish between selected/unselected cells. This is okay when I'm
selecting a rectangle, but when I'm using control-select to select multiple
cells? I can't do it :S

I'm thinking though, that if on my system the cells are not coloured at all
then that's *different* to your experiences and there must be a way of
changing it!

Hi, I have the same problem and have found a way to work around it: if you
set a fill color for the entire sheet or just some areas, the selection color
is much easier to differentiate. I use a light grey with my flatscreen, but
you might have to try a few different shades of light fill colors.

I'm glad I look at these posts. I've been searching everywhere and I
couldn't find anything on this subject. I'm using Excel 2007 for the first
time and this is a big problem.

I'm glad to know that it wasn't just me.

Microsoft People: Does anyone have a solution to this problem now or in an
upcoming release? HELP!
