Append Only

I have a school book on Access 2007 that is asking me to open a table, set a
field to Memo, go to the discription are, and change the property called
Append Only to yes.

When I open the a table and follow these instructions there are NO options
that say "Append Only". I have clicke Alt+Enter to pull up more properties
and "Append Only" does not appear there either. I have gone to Google and
asked the question, and sure enough....there are screen shots that show
Append Only as an option in the properties box below.

What is going on? Help!

My guess is that you are working in a mdb file. I believe that property
will only show up in a accdb file.

Good guess!

The Access 2007 DB I'm working on started in Access 2003. When I opened a
new Access 2007 and change a table field to Memo...sure enough... there was
an Append Only option in the property box. The DB I am working on does NOT
have this.

Thanks Joan!

So you have a mdb file (it was created in 2003 - 2003 knows nothing
about the new accdb format). When you open it in 2007, it will still be
a mdb format. To convert it to the 2007 format, you need to open it in
2007, and then click on the Office button (upper left) and choose Save
As... and save it in the 2007 accdb format. Once you do this, you won't
be able to open it in an earlier version.

(Lurking here). What are the advantages of the new file format?
