AppleScript Insert Firefox URLs v1.0 and Firefox 3.0

On 17-Jun-08, I installed new Firefox 3.0 for use with OSX 10.5.3 and
Entourage 12.1.0. One of the first things I tried was to send a link to
a friend using the Insert Firefox URLs v1.0 AppleScript that is
installed in the Entourage Script Menu Items folder. It did not work
like the one for Safari.

I sent a note to barry at barryw.net; however, this may be a cockpit
error on my part. All I know is the Insert Safari URLs v1.0.1 works with
Entourage 12.0 and the Firefox version is not working with the new 3.0
Firefox. I looked but could not find Firefox version 1.0.1

Anyone been able to get Insert Firefox URLs v1.0 to work with the new
Firefox 3.0?

Since nobody has responded, I must be the only person with this issue. I
am open to suggestions on how to get the Insert Firefox URLs AppleScript
in Entourage to work with the new Firefox version 3.0. Wonder what I
did wrong?

You should know by now that it may take a number of hours, days even, before
you get a reply in this newsgroup. My guess is that the way in which
AppleScript accesses the current URL in Firefox has been changed in version
3, and it is most likely going to take a modification of the script itself
for it to work properly again. You've already contact Barry, so I suggest
you wait for his reply.

Barry responded that he can't see any difference at his end.

Nobody else has commented so I must be doing something wrong. The
AppleScript works great with Safari and does nothing with the new
Firefox 3.0 on my setup.

Hmm, I've just given it a try, and it does not work on my end, either. We'll
see, maybe other people will complain about the same problem. It is
interesting to hear that the script still works for Barry, though.

I just upgraded to FireFox 3 and the script is broken for me too.

I thought I found the download link for 2.0.0.7, but it looks like they have
pulled all of the old downloads. However, when I opened FF, it did upgrade
to 2.0.0.7 so it's still on their servers.

I'll let Barry know we have verified the problem.

I just got another note from Barry and he has not upgraded to
Firefox 3.0. That probably explains the disconnect. Something tells
me there will soon be a new release of Insert Firefox URLs once Barry
installs the new version of Firefox.

Firefox 3.0 was not an automatic download. I had to get
it from

Barry have you had time to download and test the script with Firefox 3.0?

Hi,

yes I have downloaded FF3 and Im working on getting the script to work
again, but they changed some of the (undocumented) script hooks in FF2
and that broke my script.

I'm still trying to figure a way out of it and also trying to get in
touch with the devs to see if they can restore this functionality in a
future update.
