Application error event Id 1000

This strikes me as a bit wierd, I keep getting this recurring error on
customers' machine's. It happens whe closing outlook with Word as the email
editor, but does not affect word on it's own. Unfortunately this error is non
replicatable. Outlook returns the Word has encountered an error dialogue and
under details it gives me faulting application winword.exe code 0xc0000005
(and then all blank memory addresses...very vague i know!) and in the event
log i get

Event Id: 1000

Faulting application winword.exe, version 11.0.8026.0, stamp 4468c5b1,
faulting module winword.exe, version 11.0.8026.0, stamp 4468c5b1, debug? 0,
fault address 0x00072c3e

The usual google trawl has yielded no results,

We are using office 2003, word has to stay on as the email editor for this
customer and we are using the third party TRIM context outlook plugin.

Thanks

Thanks

I will try the normalmail.dot, as it did work in safe mode...however like i
say there is no real way to replicate the error. It just seems like such a
random message to get, when everyone comes in saying that if it is faulting
in module winword.exe then it's definitely a word problem.

I have tried re-registering the ole32.dll to see if that would fix it, (as i
know that some com+ add ins can screw this up a bit) but it didn't, which
leaned me away from the add in (I have seen similar errors, in as much as the
application crashed in use not on exit(Which now i think about it would lead
me more towards normalmail...) and registering ole32 worked), but it may go
further than that.

Thanks again any other help is appreciated though..

Greg S.

I had a similar problem for weeks and couldn't find the answer. Have Outlook
2003 with Word as e-mail editor, and everything was hotfixed to within an
inch of its life. Tried doing all the temp file cleanup and normal.dot file
recreation on an almost daily basis. Also ran Detect & Repair. But winword
kept crashing down... sometimes when I was in the middle of an e-mail,
sometimes when I was in the middle of a doc, and sometimes when I wasn't
doing anything in MS Office at all. And I was getting pretty much the same
message as you did in the Application log.

It's now been three wonderful days since the last crash. Here's what I did:
1. Made sure msword and Outlook were closed.
2. In regedit, went to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\ Word
3. Deleted the Data key (after exporting a backup copy)
4. Lauched Outlook and Word.
Everything has been just fine since. No crashes. I did lose toolbar
customizations as expected, but was certainly a small price to pay. And the
Data key does recreate itself -- FYI.

Hope this helps!

Dear Greg S

I have a problem with Application Winword exe Module version 11.0.8227.0
Application stamp 486d648F module name msvcrt.dll module version
7.0.2600.5512 module stamp 4802a188 fDebug 0 offset0037646

When I open the computer(without opening word) it immediately says Word has
detected a problem with some current preferences - restore to default? when I
say yes it comes up with"Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and
needs to close" - with the usual invitation to send an error message. On it
goes round this loop unless I say not to open Word - which means I can do
nothing!. I have Word 2003 on XP home - I would be grateful for any help
from anyone in simple words that I can understand!! - thanks
