Approval of updates after transfer of project owner is done

Would like to know whether updates submitted by team members under the
original project managers will be forwarded to the new project manager after
transfer of ownership is made? The original pm was not able to reject or
approve these updates before the transfer was made.

This scenario was raised after one of our project managers died.

We are using project2003.

The updates will not be redirected automatically. The new owner needs to
republish assignments for the project or selected items with the 'become
manager for these assignments' selected then the team members need to update
their tasks again.
