Approving Updates

Is there a way to accept and approve updates without having to have a copy of
Project on your client? It seems when you accept and update, it opens the
plan in Project and then saves it. Thanks!

No. You must have Microsoft Project Professional to approve task updates.

Is there a way to set up Auto approval for tasks assigned to the project
owner as they are updated?

No, this is not possible. Microsoft's assumption is that the project
manager must be at least minimally involved with the update process. The
closest you can come to "automatic" task update approval is by creating one
or more Rules on the Updates page. Be ware, however, that the PM can create
Rules, but they do not actually run automatically. The PM in question must
still click the Run Rules Now button to process the updates using the
Rule(s). Hope this helps.
