Archieving Error on MSN Deleted Items

G

Geek

Hi All,

I get this message everytime my archieving runs...it says:

Error while archiving folder "Deleted Items" in store "MSN". Some items
could not be copied. They were either moved or deleted, or access was
denied.

Does anyone know what this means exactly?

I get the very same message Outlook 2000. I am a software developer. If I was to display a worthless message like this, I would be fired on the spot. If an error was detected, the program could say what went wrong in the error message. It is very disconcerting to see that this obvious flaw in Outlook 2000 exists in 2002. For what it is worth, my target PST file works perfectly if I open it. I just can't archive to it.

What type of email account do you have? Which version/mode of Outlook, see
help, about if unsure.

Since Hotmail/MSN http accounts are funky about letting you empty deleted,
the error is expected. The amount of code needed to determine exactly why
adds too much overhead when there are a number of reasons why the message is
unavailable.

I believe that I responded to the wrong thread. I am using Outlook 2000 with a standard POP3 service. I should have responded to the 3rd thread, not this one. After looking at my Archive PST file, I may have stumbled on the cause of the problem. It weighs in at 499,888 kb. That is a rather large file, but not for the monster hard drives that the stores insist on selling at very attractive discounts. Anyway, I couldn't find anything in the Outlook help files on maximum file size. If anyone knows of any file size limits, it would be helpful.

Thanks

Diane,

Thanks for the information. I have an old MSN account. We had our service
through MSN and don't anylonger but they let me keep that email address. I
run Outlook 2002 on Windows XP home.
