Architectural version of Excel?

Is there an Architectural version of Excel which can perform functions such
as determining square footage, area, etc.?

Simple formula such as =A1*B1 for area, perhaps?

That would work for simple calcualtions naturally.

It seems I remember hearing about an engineering version of Excel....maybe
it was incorrect information. I would like to incorporate Excel usage in a
CAD class. I could create my own functions using VBA, I suppose.
