Hi folks
I am trying to archive items older than 1/1/03 but when I
go to file and archive and check the relevant boxes, it
doesn't archive for me. The only way I can get it to
archive is to tell it to archive before say 12/6/03 but I
don't want it to archive items that recent

Hi Jocelyn
thanks for that, I had noticed it was the modified date
alright but what I couldn't understand was why it had been
changed. Thanks to that article you referred to me I now
realise it is from making folders available for offline
viewing, creating the *.ost file. It seems to be a bug in
Outlook, it could be fixed by Microsoft by ensuring the
date modified does not change or else basing the archive
on date sent or received instead. I had to get aroung it
by archiving everything before June 2nd 2003 which was the
day after all our email was last modified (eventhough
there was email there from 1998!) and then move back more
recent emails manually afterwards.

On a seperate note, I find this forum to be a great
resource but it is almost impossible to find my postings
or to search large numbers of posts for questions similar
to my own. Would it be a good idea to email users when
their post has been replied or to allow users to download
the newsgroup or to provide a more user friendly interface.

Kind Regards
Oliver Dempsey

You would probably be happier using a dedicated newsreader program such
as Outlook Express or Forte Agent to connect to these newsgroups,
instead of relying on the web interface, which in its current state is
confusing and hard to search. Most ISPs provide access to a news server
which may or may not include the microsoft public newsgroups such as
this one; if your ISP doesn't provide a news server or it doesn't carry
the MS groups, you can connect directly to the msnews.microsoft.com
server and access the MS groups that way. Good luck.
