Are Frontpage Extensions necessary for publishing to the web?

Do I need Frontpage extensions to upload a website in Frontpage? I'm new
to Frontpage and I'm putting up a very simple website. The site host told
me Frontpage extensions would cost a setup fee and that I would not need
it for a simple page. However, I'm having a problem getting the page to upload.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve Smit

You do not need FPEs to publish your web.

FPEs enable things such as Forms, which can also be achieved without
FPEs.

You need to setup Remote Web Site options in FP to enable you upload
your Local Web to the server that hosts your Remote Web. You should
have a UserName/ID and Password for this from your Web Host/ISP.

Steve,
FrontPage also supports Ftp based uploading. Or you can get a free ftp
client to do it with. However, you want your physical hard disk setup with
the exact same paths as the ISP server if you use ftp. Frontpage setups
file paths based on where the web is located on your local machine and only
updates those file paths if you use the FPSE http publishing facility
(apparently).

For instance, a common file path for an Microsoft IIS server is:
driverootletter:/Inetpub/yourwebsitefoldername

So your workstation should be setup like so: c:\Inetpub\mywebsite1

Hope I'm making some sense here.

Respectfully,
