Are there extra dictionaries available for Word?

Do any companies sell more comprehensive dictionaries for Microsoft Word or
Office? I ask because I find the thesaurus very limited in its vocabulary and
it would be great to have a much larger number of words. Do any companies
sell programs to expand Word's "vocabulary"?

Hi, I posted a similar concern about this also, I think the thesaurus built
into Word is thin and kid-minded. The whole purpose of having a thesaurus is
to find a suitable word substitute (preferrably of higher quality), not a
third-grade kiddie dictionary.

Anyway, I've used wordweb and it's alright.

I still prefer Thesaurus.com and Dictionary.com though.

Btw, to all the MS Word designers, for a all our sakes, please include a
better thesaurus.

Hi Riz,

You may want to also post this suggestion in the
MS Word Spelling and Grammar newsgroup. Some of the
MS folks who work on those products are there from time
to time (link below).

One of the issues for Microsoft to add language tools is
that they often need to be able to do ones that cover a
lot of languages for globalization.

If you use Office 2003 then you can utilize the Research task pane and
use the thesaurus and dictionary from different providers. You can
either right-click a word and select "Look up" or hold Alt and click
the word to open the Research task pane.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
