Are these features now available?

I have Publisher 2000.

A friend was showing me Serif PagePlus version 8 on which there are two
features that caught my eye.

The ability to crop shapes - in Publisher I can only crop pictures.

The ability to have a shaped text box - in Publisher only square/rectangular
text boxes.

Do the latest versions of Publisher have these two features now.

Duncan,

1. You can create any shape in Microsoft Publisher, copy
the shape, then go to Edit > Paste As > Picture then crop.

2. Microsoft Publisher 2002/2003 allow you to draw an
autoshape and then be sure to select the shape then just
begin typing, and the typing will go into the shape.

But the border of the shape will disappear.

Doesn't disappear for me.
But the text will wrap to a rectangle inside the shape,
and not to the shape
itself.

Yup. But you can type text in shapes!

1) You cannot create SHAPED Text Frames in Publisher - any version. That is
one feature that Serif PagePlus has all over every other DTP program on the
market. The implementation and variation you can have in the PagePlus Text
Frames is *awesome*.

2) Well, yes you can type into Shapes, but it really is an apology of a
feature in the way the implementation is done.
