Aren't updates swell?

George, are you actually having this problem, or are you just trying to
share knowlege? If the latter, it's unlikely that it will help anyone as
your subject line contains no relevant detail & it would take a random act
of clicking for someone to know it might help them. Not that most people
search posts before asking questions anyway.

Most people have updates on the brain when they come here. They have an issue and probably think an update would help. Information. How else can I show that installing updates may not be the right thing to do? I know you like updates from Microsoft. I don't. I can't stand them. They almost always cause more problems than they fix. Sometimes they work. But hey sometimes there is a blue moon.

I mean, your subject line doesn't give anyone a clue what you're trying to
warn them about.
It's not just that I like updates - it's that I am aware that they are often
necessary, and I very rarely have any problems.

That's amazing Lanwench. Because the article I posted shows that in fact it
happens especially with a commonly installed update such as Outlook Rules
update or a Service Pack. Since you rarely have troubles with updates you
must have a whiz bang machine because I don't think that article was
directed to the population of modern day Dodo birds.

My subject was, "aren't updates swell?" If it results in no viewership
that's fine. I just thought, "DON'T EVER INSTALL UPDATES" wasn't
appropriate. My goodness Lanwench you never heard of Windows SP6a; or SQL
SP3a; or Windows Shutdown issue fix; or the cumulative mishaps of IE
cumulative updates this past year; or the notorius Outlook Express update
two years ago; you were immune to all those? Dang I need your machine.
