Arhiving versus Deleting Project files

Hi,

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to archive files off of the Project
Server? Short of deleting them or changing the booking type to "proposed", I
would like to remove these files so that the abandoned assignments (if
remaining work greater than zero) do not compete for the resources'
"availability".

If you have work in the future that has now been cancelled, you need to set
the booking type to proposed, delete the project or remove all resources
from future-now-to-be-not-worked-on tasks.

2003. Why? Is there a difference?

I was thinking that I could simply do a SAVE AS... off to some folder on our
LAN or something like that.

I've try various methods here.... marking resourse proposed does seem to work
and I set up a custom entriprise field witch I fill with "Active",
"Completed", "Cancelled" or "On Hold" I than modified the canned PWA reports
to list only the type of Projects I want to view.

Another method I just started to get rid of old stuff that more than likely
will not "come back to live" is storing project as a file and than deleting
it and the Sharepoint space from the server.

These project are than burned to a CD... just in case... yes I do lose all
custom field infor.... but the basic project is intact.

All that proposed does is free up resources.

Thanks for confirming what I was think about. You suggested save as
file... this is what I'm going to do.
