Arranging a Schedule Detailing Production

Hello,
I am very new to MS project so if this simply cannot even be done then
I'd understand.

What I want is to arrange a production schedule. I have a few items for
example, Item 101 to item 105, and each item weights 30tons. Can I
arrange it so that I input the item, input the items weight then it
calculates and produces a schedule on the basis if I can only produce
about 100tons/week.

I would like to do this so that I can figure at the end of the week
what items have been completed or how much of an item has been
completed.

Hi,

I won't go over this lightly - I am assisting a customer implementing a
production schedule right these days- but I'm afraid you're on the wrong
track.
Project (whatever some say) is very good for producing a production
schedule - mind you most production management softwares don't even care
about scheduling - but only if you feed it with what it needs for its
calculations.
That are TASKS, clearcut tasks with estimated DURATIONS or WORK times, and
RESOURCES to produce them.
So the logic you ask for seems to be something pre-Project, it would define
the tasks and the work times..

And BTW, I'm a bit puzzlled when you say, quote:

" can figure at the end of the week what items have been completed or how
much of an item has been completed."
Project doesn't figure that out, you tell Project the actually completed
tasks and it reschedules the remaining tasks from there on.

I hope this helps,

sorry, it was confusing, I just would like a schedule based on the fact
that only 100t will be produced a week, then put my 20items in and try
to figure out when they will be completed.
