Arrow keys behaving oddly

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Since installing 10.6.1 I have been experiencing problems when trying to move to an adjacent cell using the arrow keys.
The active cell remains the same but the worksheet advances (or retreats) one row or column depending on which key is used!
Does anyone have any suggestions

I have just seen the post for someone who has had similar probelms.

The scroll lock was on but how I have no idea since I never use it.
