Aspect ratio of linked Excel tables not maintained

I am using Word 2007 and Excel 2007 on Windows XP Home.

When I open up a .doc document that has links to Excel objects, even if I
don't update the links, the aspect ratio gets slightly skewed to something
like 96% and 100%, even though "Lock aspect ratio" has been checked. Many
times, even if I correct it, if I update the links, the aspect ratio will
skew once again. Any ideas on how to fix this?

*That should be XP Pro, not Home.

Also, this skewed aspect ratio is happening even when I paste in a new
linked object.
