Assign resource to task with gaps in between.

I have resource who needs to work on a task for 3 weeks but he will work on
this task for 2 weeks, then work on another task for a week and come back to
the first task and complete the rest. In this case how should i allocate him
to both the tasks. How should by start and end dates of 1st task look like
and what % should he be assigned to the 1st task

HI,

There are several ways to handle this, including automatic Resource
Leveling, but here's one of the manual ways.

1. While he works he works fulltime so the % allocation is 100
2. Set start dates for both tasks (you seem to want to control start date
yourself - not a good idea but it's a free world)
3. Now go to Task Usage view and change the work for the first task to 0
during the absence week and then set it to FT during the week after.

If you want something more automatic please feel free to ask.
