assigning a category during import

When importing contacts into Business Contact Manager is there a way to
assign a category to the group of names without having to do it one by one?

Not sure, but it would be an easy SQL script to write.
Update category blah where timestamp < 5 minutes ago is the pseudocode

I import data using excel files. I'll have columns for name, address, email,
etc. I add on a last column called "Category". For each contact I want to
import, I put in this column a category name matching one of my categories in
BCM. Generally when I import, all my data is going to one category, so it's
just a couple clicks copy and paste the category name for all the names I'm
importing.

When my excel file is set, then I use the import wizard in BCM to import. On
the mapping page of the import wizard I make sure to map the excel "category"
column to the BCM category. When the import is finished, all my new contacts
have been automatically assigned to the category I specified.
