Assigning resources from AD

Hey

I use Project 2007 and Project Server 2007.

I'm wondering if it's possible to import resources from Active Directroy
into a project or into a resource pool... if so maybe some of you have a
great link about this subject.. then please post it

Also if you have link to other magics stuff about Project 2007 related to
Active Directory, then please post those links too

This is certainly possible, in both 2003 and 2007. And in 2007, it
will even check the group name when you save it.

The first link returned for me on this search was a decent overview:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=synchronize+project+server+active+directory&btnG=Google+Search

The most important commonly overlooked fact is that there are two
types of AD synchronization. Sync'ing to Security Groups creates users
that can log in, while sync'ing to the resource pool creates resources
that may or may not be able to log into PWA.

FYI, if you have many special characters in your AD resource names, they
will be replaced with other special characters to appease project.

For example commas will be replaced with semi-colons and square brackets
with curly ones.

, to ; and [] to {}

Doh! Thanks for the reminder:

Some special characters will not be replaced (dashes in particular),
but can then cause problems with the sync failing, or certain
resources not synchronizing.
