Assigning resources to complete tasks

Greetings.

Has anybody encountered this use case (MSP 2002 Pro) ?
- Task is 100 % complete
- Build team, a new resource
- Assign him to this task, which has several other
resources
=> for every working day of the task a whole day (7,5
hours of work and actual work is calculated (taken from
duration)

What is the proper order of making corrections in MSP
(Change work, remaining work, delete faulty actuals...)?
The calculation gives some curious results.
Final stage although is to republish and overwrite actuals.

Much obliged - as usual :)

PS I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make
as they fly by. (Douglas Admas)

Because it's impossible for us to guess why you're assigning resources to a
complete task, it's difficult for anyone to speculate on an answer here.
Please tell us what you want to happen and maybe we can tell you how to do
it. Know this, Project assumes all resource assignments are to be made at
the resource's max units value unless you tell it otherwise. The behavior
you describe is exactly what Project is designed to do.

Not Me, It's the other guy ;)

The use case (maybe a rare one?)
- the task was completed, but later was found out that
extra work was needed
- the original resources were booked to other urgent tasks
- a new resource was introduced

IMO this leaves two choices
- Adding the new resource to the task and making
corrections by editing work and remaining work fields at
assignment level. Am I correct ?
- Creating a new task for the remainder of the work and
assigning resources as needed.

You got it! Be sure to use the Window Split view if you're going with option
one so that you can control the system behavior when adding the work to the
new resource on the task.
