Assignment Owner for generic resource

Hello,

For one of my clients the following scenario is requested:
1. An employee of the project management office (PMO) creates a new project
based on a template. The Project Manager is not yet determined.
2. In the project template some generic resources are assigned to tasks as
it is yet unknown who will become the specific resources for the tasks
3. The PMO saves the project and publishes the project to create a project
work space.
4. Problem: the default assignment owner is the PMO employee, so she sees
all the tasks in My Tasks. Unfortenately due to a bug in 2007, the Proposed
booking type will not prevent tasks from showing in the My Tasks screen.

Any suggestions to prevent the tasks from showing in the My Tasks screen of
the PMO employee? I tried to empty the Assignment Owner field in Project
professional, but it won't let me. Also I tried to define a default
Assignment Owner for Generic resources, but that is not possible either. It
is no option to let the PM create his own project, because the Project
Manager is not yet determined and the PMO employee has to be able to store
documents in the Project Workspace.

Greetings,

This is a known issue, I don't know of any work around currently, except to
write a script which changes the assignment owner for each task. Alas the
Project UI only allows you to change one at a time. The same is true if you
create a project from a template, and I suspect that one will be fixed....

Couldn't you just set the "Publish" field to no for the tasks w/ generic
resources? Wouldn't that achieve the objective?
