Assignment units change after entering actual work

G

Gil

Hi,
Sometime entering actual work for an assignment, changes the
assignment units in the gantt chart to look like DEVELOPER[300%] or
DEVELOPER[25%] even though the original assignment was the default
100%.
I have found some post about this issue, but with no explanation for
the reasoning or a solution.
I am bothered by this behavior because now, before I can level
resources I need to go through the entire plan, search for this issue
and change it back to the original assignment units.

Any suggestions?
Thanks, Gil

Hi Gil,

This issue happens if you have the tasks set with "effort driven"; to
validate this check the task information window for a task. if the "effort
driven" is checked on then adding or removing resources to a task will cause
the assignment unit to change + or -

If this is the case, I suggest to use "Fixed Duration" and keep the "effort
driven" off.

Hope this helps!

Sorry Hisham, this has nothing to do with Effort Driven.
And in MAINLY happens with fixed duration tasks.
I remember having explained this in my reply to the original post.
Suppose a task is scheduled from 8:10 till 8:10 the foollowing morning.
Enter 8 hrs of actual work for the first day
Enter
Now enter 8 hrs of actual work for the second day
These will now be reflected on the 10 mins of planned work and yield a units
of 4800%
To avois it you should keep FIXED UNITS.

What you said Jan is right and it addresses the subject issue. Congrats :)

Also I am still right in the context of having fixed duration and fixed
units then the options I discussed will work as well.

Cheers!
